Structuring an Essay

An essay has three parts and that are the introduction, the main body, and a conclusion. All these parts are extremely important to structure an essay and if any of these parts are missing an essay is incomplete and has no substance. All these parts help structure an essay in a logical and coherent way. The purpose of this article is to provide you some useful tips to structure an essay. Please read below to find out how you can structure an essay.

The Introduction

The introduction of an essay is the first thing a reader comes across and it has to be on the spot right from the beginning. This part consists of the introduction of all the key points along with a brief background and a thesis statement. The introduction has to be very interesting so that the readers continue to read the entire essay. If the introduction is poorly written than the readers may not read it any further and all your efforts will go in vain.

The Main Body

The main body consists of three independent paragraphs. Each paragraph can have subheading but they should be related to the main theme of the essay. You can create arguments backed by facts, figures, and examples. Each paragraph must have transitions in between to keep the logical flow of the essay and readers interested.

The Conclusion

The conclusion is the last part and it has to be strong and convincing to leave a positive impression on the readers. The conclusion consists of a brief background of the most important points of an essay along with suggestions or solutions to a problem already discussed in the main body and lastly restatement of the thesis statement to remind the readers about the main objective of the essay. The conclusion must be direct and to the point. Anything out of the context must be avoided.
